Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the 2nd Grade Teacher

SUPPORTING OUR CATHOLIC COMMUNITY (CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION)

The teacher will form relationships with the students that are built on respect and love for one another as Christ demonstrated his love for others.

The teacher will provide general education instruction to all second grade students.

The teacher will teach Math, English/Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Religion.

The teacher will teach all lessons following the Diocesan Pacing Guide and Frameworks for Second Grade.

The teacher will integrate his/her faith into all lessons providing the opportunity to show the Truth, Beauty, and Goodness of all academic subjects.

LEADING THROUGH FAITH (PROFESSIONALISM)
-
The teacher must be a Catholic in good standing as this is a Sacramental year.

The teacher will open each class with a prayer and attend Mass with the school during the week.

The teacher must be willing to attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities.

The teacher must be willing to serve on committees as needed.
-
The teacher must dress in appropriate professional teaching attire.

CHRIST-CENTERED OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH (COMMUNICATION AND NOTES)

The teacher must be able to clearly and respectfully communicate with all adults and students in and outside of the school building in a Christ-centered manner.

The teacher must be able to collaborate with other general education classroom teachers as well the “Specials” teachers in order to integrate cross-curricular lessons.

The teacher must communicate with parents in regards to diocesan-wide or school events that involve the students traveling to a location or being on a study trip.

The teacher must be able to assign tasks to paraprofessionals stationed in his/her classroom.

The teacher must be willing to avail themselves to growth opportunities that are afforded to them by school administration.

The teacher must be willing to have on-going communication and form relational partnerships with parents in order to work together for the success of their children.

A STANDARD OF SPIRITUAL AND ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE (DUTIES SPECIFIC TO THIS POSITION)

The teacher must be willing to utilize multiple instructional techniques and strategies in order to engage all learners.

The teacher must be willing to differentiate lessons to students at any level to ensure that each individual student is provided with the instruction that they need to excel in the classroom.

The teacher must be willing to live out their faith in the classroom, allowing the students to make connections to the faith that are integrated into their instruction.

To help promote excellence, the teacher must be willing to be up-to-date on all teaching practices and techniques to ensure that the students are showing continuous growth.
