Position details: Full Time - Non-exempt - 40 Hours/week

Detailed Job Description:
- Primarily responsible for processing MELCat requests, including but not limited to:
- Pulling materials being sent to requesting libraries
- Following MELCat procedures to process incoming and outgoing MELCat requests
- Assessing condition of returning items for needed repair or replacement
- Assigning overdue fees for MELCat items to patron accounts
- Working with Administrative Assistant to coordinate payment for library materials lost or damaged via the MELCat process
- Provides monthly updates for staff on MELCat & MEL.org
- Manages interlibrary loan book requests for both library-led and community-led book clubs.
- Processes new materials (property stamp, adjusting status in ILS, placing items on hold for patrons, etc.)
- Troubleshooting MEL and ILL issues for patrons
- Coordinating with MCLS and the Rides delivery program
- Regularly scheduled work on public services desks, including evenings and weekends, assisting patrons of all ages. Tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Checking out library materials according to established procedures
- Registering and maintaining borrower database information
- Collecting and recording fines and fees
- Answering and directing incoming calls
- Notifying patrons of materials on hold
- Assisting patrons with reference and reader’s advisory inquiries
- Develops, implements, and executes programs of interest to adults or teens[s1]
- Participates in collection development and assessment
- Other duties as assigned
Work Experience:
- One (1) year working with the public in some capacity; preference given to those with public library experience
- Must be comfortable with technology
- Works well with staff teams and the public
- Ability to communicate effectively & clearly
- Knowledge of and ability to apply library policies and procedures to various situations
- Applicants must agree to a background check

- Bachelor’s degree - any subject
