DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation & Civic Facilities
DIVISION: Aquatics
SALARY: $14.00 - $14.25 hourly

Job Summary
Performs lifeguard duties in water areas not to exceed three feet of water depth. Rotates in other areas including waterslide dispatcher, front gate and custodial duties. Responsible for the safety and discipline of the swimmers and patrons. Seasonal employment
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains the cleanliness of the pool/gate/restrooms and surrounding facility.
May monitor front gate.
Supervises swimmers and their activities.
Enforces pool rules and regulations
Files any accident and/or rescue reports as they occur.
Executes excellent customer service.
Monitors waterslides for proper patron use and dispatches users.
Assists with opening and closing dives.
Attends regular in-service trainings
Performs rescues and first aid as necessary.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Monitors telephones as needed.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Required (Essential) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Good knowledge of pool safety and operations.
Skills in the effective operation of the pool and swimmers.
Must have First Aid certification. Current certification cards must be presented before employment.
Must be certified in American Red Cross Aquatic Attraction Lifeguarding or Shallow Water Lifeguarding.
Must be available to work irregular hours and at various intervals, including weekends, holiday, and evening hours.
Must be responsible and work well with people of all ages and dispositions.
Must be at least 15 years of age.
Material and Equipment Directly Used
Cleaning supplies and equipment used in maintaining the booth/gate/pool area. Knowledge of first aid supplies, CPR, and AED equipment. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Work is performed in an outside setting, including cold, dust, dirt, exposure to chemicals and extreme heat. Must be able to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time. Must have the ability to routinely lift objects weighing as much as 20 pounds, occasionally assist lifting objects weighing excess of 100 pounds. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested off and approved by the appropriate supervisor.
Education
Attending High School or have graduated. Must be at least 15 years of age.
