The Telfair Clinical Nurse Manager assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the delivery of patient care and provides for the development and evaluation of all unit personnel. This includes a commitment to empowering staff and maintaining open communication. Nurse Manager will be accountable to quality within the responsible areas.The Nurse Manager demonstrates leadership abilities while maintaining the daily operational aspects of the patient care unit in collaboration with the Director of Women's & Children's Services at Telfair Women's Hospital and Children's place. Oversight includes Labor, Delivery, C/S Operating rooms, Recovery areas. The Nurse Manager functions within the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Board of Nursing. Core Job Functions
- Plans, prepares, implements and evaluates departmental operating and capital budgets; manages departments within planned budgets. Reviews monthly financial performance reports and prepares variance reports. Collaborates with appropriate health system personnel to maintain accurate charging and billing processes for department.
- Establishes and maintains internal operations, policies, and procedures. Responsible for the evaluation and data collection. Responsible for keeping track staff time and attendance.
- Defines performance objectives and metrics for the department and assesses the level of competence of staff. Prepare and review performance evaluations, as scheduled with case management staff. Develops performance goals/objectives with each staff member to promote maximum productivity, proficiency and professional growth.
- Knowledge of The Joint Commission, OSHA and CMS regulatory guidelines. Participates in quality improvement processes. Ensures that staff are abiding by Time Out, Read back/Verify standards.
- Agreed upon quality metrics are tracked and maintained. Quality metrics are reviewed and QI interventions developed in response to the data. Departments are represented on all hospital wide quality committees.
- Facilitates development/revision of structures and processes to support nursing practice governance. Provides oversight for Magnet Recognition requirements. Supports EBP implementation to improve the practice environment/quality metrics.
- Provide leadership to staff in goal setting, problem solving, resource management, and outcome achievement. Demonstrate fiscal accountability for department resources and the ability to achieve outcomes within allocated resources. Demonstrates a clear understanding of regulations applicable to patient care and/or department functions.
