St. Joseph’s Center, which has a history of over 130 years is looking for Part Time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) in their community homes in Lackawanna County locations. The primary function of a Direct Support Professional (DSP) is to be responsible for the needs of the individuals receiving services.
The primary function of this position is to be responsible for the needs of the individuals receiving services and to maintain an efficient household under the supervision of a Program Specialist.
Direct Support Professional (DSP) Required Experience/Education
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience working with the adults with intellectual and physical disabilities preferred, not required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid PA Driver’s License for certain locations/shifts
Direct Support Professional (DSP) Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit 3-7 hours per day.
- Ability to stand 1-3 hours per day.
- Ability to walk 1-3 hours per day.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move items weighing 10-50 pounds.
- Ability to twist upper portion of body on frequent basis.
- Ability to squat, bend and kneel for periods of time.
- Operate the motor vehicle assigned to the site if applicable.
Direct Support Professional (DSP) Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates knowledge of, and implements each Individual’s ISP.
- Meets the physical and personal hygiene needs of each resident.
- Accompanies residents to various appointments as directed (e.g. audiologist, dental hygienist, physicians) and community outings.
- Completes all documentation and paperwork as required.
