St. Joseph's Center is looking for a skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team! The Maintenance Worker will play an important role in keeping our facilities safe and well-maintained to support our residents and staff. This position offers an opportunity to make a difference by supporting an organization dedicated to serving others.
This position is full time 1st shift position. Occasionally employee may be asked to cover a 2nd, 3rd, or weekend shift. The position involves maintenance of buildings, grounds, and company vehicles as directed by a maintenance supervisor

What You'll Do
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assumes the responsibility for maintenance and repairs of the buildings and grounds by carrying out job assignments as directed.
- Performs a variety of duties in and around the buildings and grounds of the Center as well as routine preventative maintenance tasks.
- Under general supervision, but with latitude for independent laying out of work details, performs skilled and/or unskilled labor tasks.
- At the direction of the supervisor, checks and maintains electrical equipment, machinery, fire and alarm systems, etc. to ensure building safety and compliance with regulatory codes.
- Uses motor vehicles, tools, machinery and other equipment properly and responsibly; cleans and maintains all equipment in good order.
- Responds to maintenance emergency situations promptly and efficiently; responds to other departmental needs for emergency coverage when needed.
- If assigned, checks motor vehicles on a regular basis and maintains them in good working order.
- Assists with grounds keeping tasks according to the season and is skilled in the use of the tools and equipment required.
- Notifies supervisor of needed repairs, replacements or unusual conditions noted within the buildings or on the grounds.
- Assumes the responsibility for the security and surveillance of the buildings and grounds as assigned.
- Attends in-services and other training programs sponsored by the Center.
- At the direction of the supervisor, acts as a foreman for jobs requiring special skills such as electrical wiring, plumbing, carpentry, etc.
- Maintains a cooperative relationship with co-workers and Supervisors, and creates an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust within the home and the department.
- Is flexible to changes in duties, priorities, methods and environments.
- Comes to work as scheduled, and is punctual.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned and remains flexible to the diverse needs of the facility.

What’s Required of You
Competencies:
- Demonstrate aptitude and ability for general maintenance of the property and grounds.
- Should have basic knowledge of heating and air-conditioning systems, repair of furnishings, routine maintenance of electrical, plumbing systems, alarms, etc.
- Possess a working knowledge of the use of materials, equipment and machinery used in general maintenance.
- Should be able to read directions and to follow oral and written instructions.
- Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.

Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- Prior work experience related to the duties and responsibility described in position.
- Valid PA Driver’s License
