Job Title: Nursing Director of Clinical Education

Location: St. Joseph’s Health

Reports To: Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) / Vice President of Nursing

Job Summary

The Nursing Director of Clinical Education is a leadership position responsible for the development, implementation, and management of all nursing education and training programs within the healthcare organization. This role ensures that nursing staff are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to deliver high-quality patient care, while also fostering professional growth and continuous learning for all nursing personnel.

The Nursing Director of Clinical Education will collaborate with clinical leaders, educators, and administrators to ensure the integration of evidence-based practices and regulatory compliance within all educational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Oversight:
    • Lead and manage the clinical education department, overseeing the design, development, and execution of nursing education programs.
    • Serve as a strategic partner to the nursing leadership team to identify education and training needs aligned with clinical and organizational goals.
    • Supervise and mentor clinical educators and staff involved in training and education.
  • Program Development:
    • Design and implement comprehensive educational programs that focus on clinical skills, patient care standards, regulatory compliance, and professional development.
    • Ensure educational programs reflect current evidence-based practices, national and state healthcare regulations, and accreditation standards.
    • Develop orientation and continuing education programs for new and existing nursing staff.
    • Evaluate and adjust training programs based on staff performance, feedback, and clinical outcomes.
  • Quality Improvement:
    • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of nursing education programs through ongoing evaluation, feedback from participants, and clinical performance metrics.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by ensuring educational content is aligned with quality care initiatives and patient safety goals.
    • Collaborate with quality assurance and compliance teams to ensure educational content addresses key regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with nursing leaders, clinical staff, and interdisciplinary teams to identify educational needs and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
    • Serve as a liaison between the education department and hospital units, fostering communication and collaboration across all nursing services.
    • Provide expert advice and guidance to staff regarding clinical education and training initiatives.
  • Staff Development:
    • Identify and provide leadership development opportunities for nursing educators and clinical staff.
    • Promote a supportive and engaging learning environment that encourages professional development, certifications, and career advancement.
    • Support nursing staff in achieving licensure requirements, certifications, and continuing education goals.
Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) or related field required.
    • Certification in Nursing Education (CNE) preferred.
  • Experience:
    • At least 5 years of clinical nursing experience in a healthcare setting, with a focus on direct patient care.
    • Minimum of 3 years in a nursing education or leadership role.
    • Experience with curriculum development, program evaluation, and staff development in a clinical environment.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Current, unencumbered RN license in the state of [Insert State].
    • Certification in nursing education (CNE) or willingness to obtain within a specified period is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, curriculum development, and instructional design.
    • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences.
    • Leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and manage teams.
    • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, clinical standards, and accreditation processes.
    • Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS) and other educational technologies.

Annual Pay Range: $121,160 - $181,792

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
