182 days Lunch 50 minutes/ 25 minutes when on duty
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To offer an enriched computer education to elementary students utilizing the computer lab, Smartboard and various mobile devices; assist teachers with technology integration in lesson planning and provide support; maintain the appropriate use of the computer classrooms in accordance with the SJSD Acceptable Use Policy; Encourage creative thinking with challenging technological and graphics projects. Maintain hardware and software in labs.
- Use relevant technology to support student instruction. Use relevant knowledge of the developments in technology including equipment, software and current educational advances with apps, cloud and web based objectives
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of progressive learning tools; Oversee and guide students with a comprehensive technology education in computer and web use; Utilize a variety of instructional strategies in computer lessons
- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences; Develop schemes of work and lesson plans that support the programs; Research, implement and account new technologies with Technology Coordinator; Assist with updating the Technology Plan. Foresee and develop new initiatives related to educational technology
- Collaborate with the classroom teachers in preparing interdisciplinary lessons.
- Provide an enriched classroom environment that enables students to learn productively.
- Suggest programs, web-based applications and materials for the computer classroom and labs while maintaining inventory.
- Work with Technology Coordinator to develop a Technology Plan and prepare long range goals that includes hardware and software acquisitions.
- On-going maintenance and monitoring inventory of printers, computers and all support equipment and materials; insure equipment is in working order and inventory is sufficient
- Provide tutorials for students as needed, fill in schedule as needed in accordance to the needs of the Educational department.
- Work with students to create the senior yearbook
RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Request and/or recommend software or apps based upon the educational needs of the students and relevant technologies in the field
- Assess software prior to use and be familiarized with web subscriptions
- Assess student progress in related areas and develop improvement strategies
- Work with Media Assistant to create yearbook using desktop publishing
PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess the ability and flexibility to work with Technology Team, staff, and students of varying abilities. Operate in a cooperative manner accordingly.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

B.A or B.S in Education or Technology Education
-
M.A. in Education of Hearing Impaired or Deaf and hard of Hearing
-
NYS Certification in Deaf Education
-
N-6 or Early childhood Education certification preferred
-
Ability to communicate in Sign Language (as per personnel policy)

Specialized course work in Technology Education preferred

Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google, Windows 10, MacOS, IPads, Buncee, Code, (but not limited to) Smartboard/Notebook Technology, web-based applications
