The Office of Institutional Advancement at St. Joseph’s University, New York (SJNY) seeks an Assistant Director of Annual Giving and Digital Fundraising. This role serves as a forward-facing advancement professional supporting strategic growth and securing philanthropic support for the University’s highest priorities. The Assistant Director will work closely with academic and administrative partners equally across two campuses; Patchogue and Brooklyn. This position is a field-facing resource development role; responsibilities include developing and managing a variety of direct-response solicitations, stewardship activities and working with donors, alumni, students and faculty and staff.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and implement a strategic annual calendar of appeals to increase Annual Fund revenue through multiple media channels including direct mail, email, social media and event cultivation.
- Write content and direct art for annual mail solicitation campaigns, and determine audiences based on specific alumni demographics.
- Create an Annual Fund plan based on donor interests and giving history with personalized appeals.
- Test new mail strategies by researching best practices used successfully by colleges nationwide.
- Work closely with MARCOM and external Annual Fund consultants to design and manage the production of appeals and communication assets.
- Lead the project coordination for Giving Day, including engaging with students and faculty and staff and leading the communications and outreach activities for this crowdfunding day.
- Solicit a specific portfolio of gifts to the Annual Fund, with an emphasis on leadership level annual fund gifts with on-going personal/written/phone contact with major donors/potential donors.
- Create and execute specific fundraising campaigns for alumni affinities including athletics, student activities, and academic programs.
- Solicit gifts through social media and email campaigns for calendar year end, Giving Day, Giving Tuesday, and fiscal year end.
- Engage faculty and staff members to increase employee giving rates, with an emphasis on giving during the Faculty and Staff Giving Initiative.
- Represent SJNY and Institutional Advancement at events on campus and with the alumni community.
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President for Advancement
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s degree required. (Advanced degree preferred)
- One to three years of progressively responsible experience in higher education development and/or political, non-profit or marketing-related career.
- Strong written communication, research and analytical skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive appeals and strong editing skills.
- Excellent verbal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain interpersonal relationships.
- Positive outlook, flexibility and a high level of professionalism.
- Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies.
- Strong positive contributor in team environments.
- Computer literacy is essential, experience in word processing, spreadsheets, Raiser’s Edge as well as using search engines.
- Superior ability to prioritize work, excellent time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, listening and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage many projects simultaneously.
- Experience in and/or sensitive to the academic/professional environment.
- Valid driver’s license
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND APPLICATION PROCESS
- Travel within and outside the state of New York.
- Collaboration, creativity, cooperation and collegiality is a must.
- This position requires time to be spent on both the Brooklyn and Patchogue campuses.
- Evening and weekend hours on occasion as needed.
Salary: $55,000 - $60,000
