What are the responsibilities and job description for the Day Support Program Manager position at St. Joseph's Villa?
Under the direction of the Senior Director, this position is responsible for coordinating, planning, organizing, staffing, evaluating, and managing the service in conjunction with the Treatment Specialist and within the policies and procedures of St. Joseph’s Villa. All work is performed within a systems-based framework and a psycho-educational model. Work is performed collaboratively with and in support of other services offered by St. Joseph's Villa
Serves as a member of the Management Team and is involved in the operation of after-school, respite and in-home services for children and adolescents with emotional, developmental, and cognitive challenges. Insures quality services to clients and their families. Performs all work in accordance with the highest professional ethical standards and in alignment with Saint Joseph’s Villa mission, values, and guiding principles.
Participates as an active member in a team approach to the delivery of services to clients.
Provides supervision and training of staff within her / his program(s). Assists Director and Treatment Specialist in developing effective team model.
Schedules shift and coverage pattern for service, including regular and on-call relief and other hourly staff to cover 24 hour / day respite care needs.
Works in conjunction with the Director in matters of supervision, evaluating, training, and recommendation of hiring or termination.
Participates in staff meetings, community meetings, and other staff and program group activities that support the operation of an effective psycho-educational program.
Assists in the coordination of client admissions and discharges.
Functions as a co-facilitator in the treatment teams for his / her service.
Participates in the development and implementation of service plans, objectives and methods necessary for providing effective services to individual clients and families.
Promotes good parent and community relations and appropriately assesses services in the community to support client needs.
Assists in maintaining statistical and evaluative data, preparation of monthly reports and other reports as required and maintains an accurate receipt system for expenditures.
Assists in the development of program goals, objectives and policies consistent with those of St. Joseph’s Villa.
Assists in developing standards and documentation for licensing and accreditation authorities. Ensures program is, at minimum, operated according to regulatory, licensure and accreditation standards.
Maintains environment to ensure safety and health of staff and children are not compromised.
Provides on-call support for the program on a regular basis and rotates on-call responsibilities for the agency.
Works with community agencies and placing agencies through site visits, meetings, and / or written communiqués, or other appropriate means, to further community understanding of our services, to ensure the residential service meets community needs, and to attract and maintain appropriate population levels.
Evaluates work processes and methods; staffing levels, qualifications and training needs; and tools, equipment, and physical resources and submits recommendations for continuous quality improvement.
Maintains client population at a minimum at budgeted levels, and at capacity when feasible, creatively exploring methods to meet operational barriers to participation in the program.
Assumes responsibility for own professional development including meeting all mandated standards and staying abreast of developments within the field.
Ensures that staff receives training to meet mandated standards, that develops their professional abilities, and that prepares them for advancement opportunities.
Assumes on-call responsibility as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.
BA / BS in a field related to Human Services. Master’s preferred. Requires three years related experience working with a relevant population in a related setting with one year of working in a supervisor’s capacityExcellent oral and written communication skills. Medicaid experience preferred. Must be able to work in and provide support for all staff in a service that provides in-home, evening, 24-hour weekend and summer programs. Proficient with Windows, Outlook, internet research, MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with proprietary software preferred. Valid Virginia driver’s license with excellent driving record.
Knowledge of management and coordination skills necessary for directing, implementing, and evaluating services. An awareness of needs of emotionally and socially challenged children. Able to make independent decisions and establish an effective and harmonious working relationship between children, families and community. Able to utilize community resources. Able to develop close working relationships with the program staff; with St. Joseph's Villa staff, with staff of related agencies and with public officials and other community representatives. Knowledge of team building techniques and staff development procedures as they relate to the treatment process. Able to appropriately use proprietary software. Knowledge of basic first aid-procedures. Able to work within a team model of management. Mature judgment and a high degree of professional skill.
