- Informal observations of students and provide comprehensive feedback to teachers, administrators, process consultants, and others, as directed by the Director of Special Services and Coordinator of Federal Programs.
- Collects data to facilitate assessment of the function of the behavior as appropriate.
- Formal observations of students and provide comprehensive written report for Educational Evaluation as directed by the Director or Coordinator.
- Attend, and participate in, IEP meetings and Educational Evaluation meetings to assist in the development and implementation of IEP goals and objectives as appropriate.
- Provide professional development, provide technical training, consultation and assistance to faculty, staff, administrators, and related service providers.
- Stay knowledgeable of effective and evidence based practices, and current research in the field of behavior analysis.
- Assure proper implementation of ABA, DTT, and other effective instruction through collaboration with building administration, process consultant and teacher to discuss goals of support and fidelity of implementation.
- Conduct staff orientations and training sessions concerning behavior management, educational programs.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and demonstrate effective and positive human relations.
- Work independently with little or no supervision.
- Plan and organize work, maintain records and files in an organized manner, prepare comprehensive reports, and plan and follow a daily work schedule.
- Develops individualized behavior intervention plans and corresponding goals.
- Develop data collection plans to match the goals and behavior intervention plan.
- Develops and model appropriate behavior plans and train staff how to implement and maintain the plan and the data collection.
- Collaborates with other specialists and support staff in addressing problems with student behavior.
- Complies with IDEA process and requirements through collaboration with staff and process consultants as applicable.
- Complies with all district and department rules, regulations, and policies.
- Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.

Qualifications:
Required: Master’s Degree, or higher, in education, psychology, applied behavior analysis, autism, or other appropriate graduate degree. A valid Missouri teaching certification, or other experience related to education students with autism spectrum disorders, low incidence disabilities, aberrant or noncompliant behaviors, and cognitive and developmental delays, ages 3-21. Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Licensed Behavior Analyst. Mandt trained, or similar training in restraint and de-escalation. Knowledge of applied behavior analysis, discrete trail training, and other applicable research based behavior intervention methods. Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Preferred: Minimum of 3-years professional experience working with individuals with autism. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate or acceptable.

Purpose: The purpose of the district behavior interventionist is to assist staff in providing support to individuals or small groups of students with behavior needs. The behavior interventionist works in collaboration with school staff within the parameters of the Problem Solving Team and/ or Special Education process. This position is also responsible for redirecting and modifying student progress regarding inappropriate behaviors and performance, administering intensive behavior intervention programs to identified students, and performing a variety of data collection and written documentation as assigned.
