What are the responsibilities and job description for the Spanish Interpreter - PT (As Needed) - 2025-2026 position at St. Joseph School District?
- Attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner.
- To "telework" when requested by the District.
- Consult with parents, administrators, counselors, teachers, and other relevant individuals regarding enrollment and school placement.
- Provide parent activities to build upon parents’ ability to support their children with academic goals.
- Facilitate communication with parents, students, and school staff by translating orally between the native language and English in meetings, consultations, assessments, and other interactions.
- Communicate with parents of English Learner students and provide translation and interpretation services in order to discuss attendance, parent meetings, health issues, literacy events, and other school programs.
- Refer parents to applicable community services for which they may qualify.
- Keep accurate records regarding communications, student progress, and services provided.
- Maintain familiarity with district processes for enrollment and communications between schools and parents.
- Familiarity with various types of computer formats in order to translate documents within such programs.
- Participation and interpretation for parent activities held by the District.
- Collaborate with other family advocates.
- Other assigned duties.

Required: A High School diploma or G.E.D. One to three years of relevant experience. Must be bilingual (Spanish). Must demonstrate cultural competency. Must be able to travel. Must have a valid driver’s license.\

Eligible for emergency telework: With Supervisor approval
