Job Description
The Marketing and Communications team at ALSAC is responsible for elevating and unifying the St. Jude brand globally through narrative and design. The SVP Brand Creative will collaborate closely with the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and lead ALSAC’s creative department, overseeing all brand-in-motion and off-air brand expressions, as well as design systems that work across all brand touchpoints, platforms and regions. Develops and implements the creative vision and strategy, ensuring all messaging is consistent and on-brand through collaboration with other leaders. Provides regular performance reports on the creative team and stays current on industry trends and best practices, continuously evaluating and enhancing creative processes and workflows for efficiency and effectiveness. Fosters a collaborative and innovative environment, setting clear expectations and supporting the professional growth of the creative team. Maintains brand consistency, driving growth in donor acquisition, activation, and cultivation, ensuring the creative department’s output aligns with ALSAC’s goals and values. Works closely with the Marketing executive leadership team to ensure an integrated effort on all marketing, informational, promotional, and public relations activities that impact the corporate identity and reputation of St. Jude and ALSAC.

Essential Job Functions
- Leadership and People Management: Effectively manage and inspire the creative team (approx. 75), fostering a collaborative and innovative environment where creativity can thrive. Set clear expectations, provide constructive feedback, and support professional development, ensuring that the team consistently delivers high-quality, on-brand content that aligns with ALSAC’s goals and values. Conduct performance reviews to ensure the team consistently meets their goals.
- Creative Direction and Strategy: Work closely with creative directors, art directors, designers, copywriters, video production experts, and other creatives to develop and execute marketing assets, ensuring all content aligns with ALSAC’s brand and messaging while maintaining high levels of creativity and quality. Develop and implement audience-first creative strategies that meet the organization’s objectives and drive brand growth.
- Quality Control and Brand Consistency: Oversee the production of all creative content to ensure it meets ALSAC’s standards for quality and creativity, continuously aligning creative output with brand guidelines and messaging. Ensure consistency across all marketing channels and touchpoints, maintaining a cohesive and unified brand presence.
- Brand Stewardship: Strategically directs development of all creative collateral across multiple mediums. Responsible for guiding all creative teams on brand management, development and structure. Works with creative leadership to resolve branding issues and ensure infrastructure is in place to manage brand challenges. Reviews high concept pieces and often assists in conceptualizing new campaign materials. Manages multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. Understands brand theory, architecture and brand standards development in order to guide the organization in ongoing brand development discussions through a creative lens.
- Brand Image and Identity Management: Helps shape and maintain brand image and identity, developing and implementing creative branding guidelines in collaboration with the creative and brand teams.
- User Experience: Ensure an exceptional user experience by overseeing the design and implementation of user-centric interactions across all platforms. Collaborate with UX designers, developers, and other stakeholders to create intuitive and engaging experiences that align with ALSAC’s brand and objectives. Implement user research, analyzing feedback, and continuously refining the user experience to meet the evolving needs of the audience.
- Innovation and Trend Analysis: Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to keep the creative department at the forefront of innovation, while encouraging the team to experiment with new ideas and approaches to enhance creative output.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other departments to ensure cohesive and integrated campaigns, while communicating the creative vision and strategy to stakeholders to ensure alignment with overall business goals.
- Department Management: Ensure the creative department runs smoothly and efficiently by supervising the content creation process to ensure high-quality output. Allocate resources effectively to meet the department’s needs and goals. Guide goal setting to drive the department’s performance. Actively recruit new talent, conducting interviews, and hiring new team members as needed, ensuring the department is staffed with talented and diverse team members.
- Strategic Leadership: Works proactively to provide strategic input to the CMO, CRO, CEO and other senior leaders to ensure the protection of corporate identity and institutional reputation on issues related to messaging, brand management and creative quality. Represents CMO as a member of the Executive leadership team as needed. Serves as a member of the ALSAC’s senior management team, responsible for long-range planning and decision making that has impact on the Division’s fiscal year performance. Works closely with the CMO, ALSAC and St. Jude liaison teams to collaborate with the St. Jude executive and marketing teams.
- Ethical Compliance: Adheres to all ethical standards related to patient usage in all fundraising activities and materials. Ensures compliance with all federal and regulatory standards related to patient information and policies as determined by hospital compliance team.
- Requires thorough knowledge of marketing, advertising, creative design, social media, public relations and general management methods within for-profit, marketing agency and non-profit agencies;
- Speak and write in a clear and understandable manner for internal/external relations;
- Understand extremely complex verbal or written instructions;
- Thorough grasp of rhetorical tools used in marketing, creative design, public relations and marketing communications;
- Thorough knowledge of English spelling, grammar and usage;
- News writing and editing knowledge;
- Excellent typing skills and knowledge of design tools and software;
- Detailed knowledge of all mediums of marketing/communications and tools used in those mediums to include understanding of the research, creation, production and distribution of end products;
- General knowledge of communications and copyright law;
- General knowledge of purchasing and inventory control;
- Knowledge ordinarily acquired through a Bachelor's degree and 10 years’ experience in Brand Creative Development, Marketing, Communications and/or Public Relations including 7-10 years supervisory experience involving budgeting, strategic planning, organizational development and cost control;
- Possess excellent diplomatic skills;
- Master’s Degree preferred.
