Job Summary:
We are seeking a General Laborer to join our antique boat restoration company. As a vital team member, you will play a crucial role in preserving and restoring classic watercraft to their former glory. Your responsibilities will include various physical tasks and assistance to skilled craftsmen in the restoration process.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in Boat Restoration: Work alongside experienced craftsmen to perform tasks related to the restoration of antique boats. This includes sanding, painting, varnishing, and refinishing woodwork.
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Keep the workshop and restoration areas clean and organized, ensuring tools and materials are readily available. Perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools. Wash and clean customer’s boats as needed.
- Material Handling: Safely handle and transport materials, boat parts, and equipment. This includes lifting, moving, and positioning heavy or delicate components.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations, protocols, and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment. Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Assist in Boat Rigging: Assist in rigging boats, which may include the installation of hardware, rigging lines, and other necessary components.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and hours worked. Assist in maintaining project documentation and tracking progress.
- Team Collaboration: Work cooperatively with other team members, including artisans, carpenters, and marine technicians, to ensure projects are completed efficiently and with the highest quality standards.
Requirements:
- Physical fitness and endurance to perform labor-intensive tasks.
- A willingness to work in various weather conditions and around water.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Prior experience in a similar role, especially in boat restoration or woodworking, is a plus.
- A valid driver's license is required for occasional off-site work or material pickups.
