Job Overview
The Chaplain and Church Relations Manager is responsible for helping to provide spiritual and other supports to staff and residents as well as strengthening relationships with churches and individuals within the churches.
Responsibilities
- Provide spiritual care and counseling to patients, families, and staff in a compassionate manner.
- Educate individuals on faith-related topics and offer guidance through difficult times.
- Engage in crisis intervention to support individuals facing emotional or spiritual distress.
- Mentor individuals seeking spiritual growth or guidance in their personal journeys.
- Offer hospice care support, ensuring dignity and respect for patients nearing the end of life.
- Plan and facilitate events that promote spiritual well-being and community engagement.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to integrate spiritual care into overall patient treatment plans.
- Write reports and documentation related to spiritual care activities and patient interactions.
- Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Chaplain (50%)
1. Engaging SLM residents and participants in their healing, re-learning to trust, and incorporation into community life.
2. Both directly and through partnerships, offer a range of optional spiritual supports for residents and participants.
3. In times of need and request, provide spiritual supports to community members and staff.
4. Facilitate spiritual services during the year and in times of specific need.
Church and External Relations (50%)
1. Develop and maintain relationships with leaders of Episcopal and other faith communities, with the goal of increased awareness of SLM’s mission, increased volunteerism, and increased contributions.
2. Preach and teach in churches to advance awareness of SLM and the justice issues faced by our men and women.
3. Identify individuals from churches who are willing and able to support SLM through time, talent, and treasure.
4. Expand inter-faith sharing and opportunities internally and externally.
5. Assist with developing and maintaining communications and messaging to church and other external communities.

Pay: $24.50 per hour
