General Description / Position Summary :
People who are food and nutrition insecure are disproportionately affected by diet-related chronic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure as well as many other adverse effects to overall health. The Nutrition and Wellness Programs Coordinator is an innovative and creative leader who advances the St. Louis Area Foodbank's vision of a nutritional secure Illinois and Missouri resulting in a healthier bi-state region. This person will develop, implement, and measure the success of the Foodbank's nutrition and wellness programs throughout our 26-county region. This role has three different priorities. One being nutrition education with the expectation that you are the Subject Matter Expert (SME) internally and externally for Healthy Eating Research (HER) and Supporting Wellness at Pantries (SWAP). The second is piloting new initiatives and ensuring continuous program improvement for medically tailored meals in partnership with our Community Healthcare Programs Coordinator. The third is around building up culturally appropriate food offerings by partnering with our Product Sourcing and Partner Relationship teams. Additional responsibilities include supporting food distribution partners with nutrition education, providing food safety training, conducting cooking demonstrations and creating educational newsletters, videos, and other collateral that empower neighbors to make informed choices regarding the food they eat.
Objectives :
- Lead the organizational vision for the Foodbank's nutrition and wellness programs and services.
- Stay abreast of trends and research regarding best practices in nutrition and wellness in hunger relief settings.
- As SME, develop and expand program plans, logic models and the utilization of tools.
- Champion of HER / SWAP across internally and externally with programs and partners.
- Promote and maintain the Foodbank's Nutrition Policy.
- Pilot and build out evidence based medically tailored and culturally appropriate food programming.
- Measure, evaluate, set goals, and ensure the continuous improvement of all nutrition and wellness programs and services.
- Develop and provide food safety, nutrition, and wellness training and support to partners and team members.

WORK SCHEDULE : The Nutrition and Wellness Programs Coordinator will work a total of 40 hours per week. The hours are Monday - Friday between the hours of 8 : 00AM - 4 : 30PM. This role may be hybrid with work remotely, on onsite at the Foodbank campus, and in the community as needed. However, flexibility will be granted as appropriate.
Occasional weekend (Saturday / Sunday) or evening hours may be required.
Meeting attendance may require overnight travel.
