Responsibilities

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic person to join St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute's Intake team as an Intake Specialist. We are looking for someone to work in the office Monday- Friday, between the hours of 7am-6pm (8-hour shift with a 30-minute lunch). The position is full-time, 40 hours a week with benefits. This position does not require any in person interactions with patients as this is a back-office position.

As an Intake Specialist, your responsibility is to schedule potential patients who are seeking mental health treatment at St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute (SLBMI). The Intake Specialist collects demographic and basic information via the phone and email to provide them with an appointment that is most appropriate for the patient’s needs.

Ideal candidates for this position are well-versed at navigating electronic-based information and effectively communicating over the phone. Ability to maintain organization and have attention to detail is critical as SLBMI has 9 specialty programs with over 70 providers, who have different behavioral health specialties and scheduling preferences that must be taken into account by the Intake Specialist.

Qualifications

Qualification Preferences:

Bachelor’s Degree Preferred, with strong consideration for candidates with a Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or closely related field and/or one year experience with intake screenings or customer service telephone etiquette.

Knowledge/Skills Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with patients, referral sources, insurance companies, and colleagues;
  • Proficient in use of email, internet, and phones;
  • Professionalism in presentation with patients and colleagues;
  • Problem-solving and customer service oriented
  • Basic computer knowledge;
  • Excellent communication and screening skills;
  • Skills in working independently and implementing time management strategies;
  • Ability to demonstrate positive team interactions;
  • Knowledge of office management systems and procedures;
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures;
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
