Job Summary:

The St. Louis Cardinals are seeking part-time seasonal Communications Game Day Associates who are looking to start their career in the sports industry. These individuals will assist the Communications Department with aspects of gameday media operations at Busch Stadium, including, but not limited to, media information distribution, media credentialing assistance, press box operations, gameday field visits, and other assigned tasks and special projects by the Communications staff.

Individuals chosen for these positions must be available to work a majority of home games, including nights, weekends and odd hours as assigned, based on the Cardinals regular season and postseason schedule.

Job Duties:

• Assist the Communications staff on gamedays in various roles while helping promote and aid the Cardinals brand through the media.
• Operate and staff the media will call window, managing credential distribution to media and VIP/guests.
• Serve as a chaperone and escort to Clubhouse and VIP field guests at Busch Stadium, while helping with field pass distribution as necessary.
• Assist with press box preparation and management before and after games (sound system, windows, etc.), copying and circulating information to specific stadium areas (media, broadcast booths, suites, etc.), submitting official scoresheets, assisting media with any questions or problems as necessary, etc.
• Contribute to gameday materials when assigned (Minor League report, scorecards, lineups, game notes, etc.).
• Distribute promotional items to media members and broadcasters.
• Assist Cardinals staff in other areas such as Media Will Call and VIP Lobby.
• Other duties and projects as assigned by the Communications staff.

Education and Experience Required:

• College graduate OR currently enrolled in an accredited College or University with a minimum Junior level status, majoring in Public Relations, Communications, Business, Marketing, or a related field, with interest in a career in sports communications
• Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
• Excellent accountability, taking ownership for areas of responsibility and associated business results; address issues so that they do not reoccur
• Self-motivated with a high degree of integrity; takes personal responsibility for accomplishing tasks in a way that positively and professionally represents the Cardinals organization
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational & time management skills
• Excellent work ethic and ability to learn quickly, with ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
• Physical demands: at least 75% walking; 25% using stairs; and pushing/pulling/lifting about 30lbs
• Flexible schedule, with availability to work nights, weekends and odd hours as assigned, based on the Cardinals regular season and postseason schedules

Education and Experience Preferred:

• Undergraduate degree from College or University with an emphasis in Public Relations, Communications, Business, Marketing, Sports Administration/Management or a related field
• Prior experience working in an athletic department, sports or media organization
• Understanding of media & baseball, with the desire to learn about Communications and sports media operations; knowledge of baseball statistics & Major League Baseball & media
• Working knowledge of Adobe applications and the Microsoft Office suite
• Excellent customer service skills with retail and/or customer service experience
• Excellent work ethic and ability to learn quickly
• Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
