What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Crew Game Attendant (Part-Time) position at St. Louis Cardinals?
Job Summary:
The Field Crew Game Attendant assists in all game day duties that directly relate to pre -game field preparation and post-game field maintenance, repair and cleaning. This position is part time and requires staff to report 2 hours prior to the game and remain up to 1-hour post-game, though inclement weather may impact the duration of the shift. Employees can expect to work in adverse weather conditions and should be aware of those dangers prior to applying.
Job Duties:
- During inclement weather, must safely cover the field of play with infield tarp
- Breakdown and store batting practice equipment, assist in painting foul lines and batters' boxes, clear field of all barricades, rake and drag infield for pre-game watering and perform any other assigned task relevant to field setup
- Preform in-game dragging, remove any litter from field as necessary and assist in all tarps pulls
- Assist in cleaning dugouts and bullpens, raking seeds from warning track, repairing mound, home plate and infield areas, and prepping infield for nightly watering
- Assist in maintaining clean and well-organized maintenance, locker room, and breakroom areas
- Help prep field as required for amateur baseball games, soccer games, concerts, etc.
Education/Experience Required:
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Ability to lift, carry, and transport up to 50 lbs.
- Available to workdays, nights, holidays, weekends, and overtime if needed
- Ability to work in a professional, team atmosphere
- Ability to meet deadlines under pressure and/or frequently deal with a rapidly changing work schedule and environment throughout shift
- Move quickly under unpredictable situations
- Ability to learn while on the job
Education/Experience Preferred:
- 2 years of baseball grounds-keeping experience
- Prior baseball field maintenance experience, such as mound and home plate repair, dragging infield skin areas, and painting lines
