What are the responsibilities and job description for the Travel Security (Part-Time) position at St. Louis Cardinals?
Job Summary:
The St. Louis Cardinals are seeking candidates for their Travel Security position. The principal purpose of this position is to ensure the safety and security of the St. Louis Cardinals traveling party. This person will be prepared to support the Director of Team Travel with all security coordination and provide operational support to the group while traveling. This person must be prepared to provide security expertise and protection for the entire traveling party which may include players, staff, media, and families.
Job Duties:
- Work closely with the Director of Team Travel to support all aspects of club travel logistics
- Contact security director at each hotel to coordinate enhanced security measures, with an emphasis on Club/player arrivals & departures, and other vulnerable areas. Overwatch the movement of players between the hotel and the team buses
- Coordinate with the home club security directors on all issues related to the team's arrivals/departures from the ballpark and all gameday security requirements
- Assist players and Club staff with security or law enforcement issues that may arise at home or on the road
- Report all Club and player-related security issues to the Director of Security.
- Communicate with local RSAs to determine if any local security issues may impact the team's visit to the city
- Work with Director of Team Travel to assist with security at airports utilized by Club charter aircraft
- Work with airline personnel to ensure only authorized personnel board Club aircraft
- Assist the Director of Team Travel with TSA screening program prior to scheduled flights
- Work with Director of Team Travel on security for bus/ground transportation and ensure only authorized personnel utilize such transportation.
- Maintain the security of Club baggage and equipment
- Must be familiar with and able to enact the Teams' Travel Crisis Management Plan
- Must abide by all MLB rules (including on-field rules and use of electronic devices)
- Remain inconspicuous while performing job duties
Education and Experience Required:
- Associate's degree in criminal justice or related field
- 10 years of law enforcement experience; or 10 years military experience with tactical occupational skillset; or 10 years private security/executive protection experience
- Received formal training or 1 year of experience related to executive protection
- Must possess basic knowledge and understanding of security principles
- Must understand executive protective principles
- Must understand Use of Force and de-escalation principles Must possess a fundamental knowledge of anti-terrorism and force protection measures Possess a basic understanding of surveillance awareness Must possess good oral and written communications skills
Education and Experience Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field
- 20 years of law enforcement experience; or 20 years military experience with tactical occupational skillset; or 20 years security experience
- CPP, CPS or CESS certification
- Possess advanced knowledge and understanding of security principles
- Ability to demonstrate advanced knowledge, skills and training on executive protection
- Possess expert understanding of Use of Force and de-escalation principles
- Possess extensive knowledge of anti-terrorism and force protection measures
- Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of surveillance awareness
- Possess excellent oral and written communications skills
- Fluent Spanish speaker
