About the Role
We are seeking a collaborative and development-focused Assistant Coach to join the St. Louis CITY SC Academy coaching staff. This position will work alongside the Head Coach to support training sessions, match preparation, and performance analysis while contributing significantly to player development. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm and expertise to help our academy players reach their potential within our club's philosophy. This is a full time, exempt position.
Key Responsibilities:
Player Development
- Support individual player development through personalized guidance and feedback
- Help identify technical, tactical, physical, and mental areas for growth in players
- Contribute to regular player evaluations and development conversations
- Assist in designing training activities that address individual player needs
- Provide constructive feedback to help players improve specific aspects of their game
- Track player progress and development throughout the season
- Create opportunities for appropriate player challenges based on their development stage
- Help players understand their individual roles within team concepts
Training Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and executing training sessions aligned with club methodology
- Help implement technical and tactical components of the training program
- Support position-specific training across different playing roles
- Contribute to creating game-realistic training environments
- Provide timely and specific feedback during training sessions
- Help prepare training equipment and field setup
- Collaborate on session evaluations and training adjustments
- Support small-group and individual training interventions
Game Day Responsibilities
- Assist with match day preparation and implementation of game plans
- Collaborate with the coaching staff on tactical approaches
- Provide pre-match, halftime, and post-match input
- Support players with guidance during competitive situations
- Assist with warm-up activities and pre-game preparation
- Contribute to post-match analysis and player feedback
- Support the overall match day experience for players
Performance Analysis
- Assist with video analysis of team and individual performances
- Help create video compilations for team and individual review
- Contribute to opponent analysis and scouting preparations
- Support data collection during training and matches
- Help prepare and deliver video presentations
- Track relevant performance metrics for player development
- Collaborate with other staff on integrating analysis into training
- Maintain organized records of player and team progress
Additional Responsibilities
- Support seasonal planning and curriculum implementation
- Assist with player recruitment and talent identification
- Maintain professional communication with players and families
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development
- Attend showcases, and academy events
- Complete required administrative tasks promptly
- Support club initiatives and community engagement
- Represent St. Louis CITY SC professionally at all times
Requirements
- USSF B License minimum
- Coaching experience with youth players at competitive levels
- Understanding of player development principles and practices
- Knowledge of performance analysis and coaching technology
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Team-oriented mindset with collaborative approach
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel
