There are three vacancies for a Janitor in the Property Management Department and these are permanent, full-time positions located in Duluth.
Available shifts:
* 1. Sweeps, dusts, damp mops, strips, seals and waxes floors.
* 2. Vacuums, spot cleans and shampoos carpets and rugs.
* 3. Collects and disposes of recycling and trash.
* 4. Cleans windows and window treatments.
* 5. Refills soap, towel and toilet tissue dispensers.
* 6. Cleans and polishes handrails, fixtures and elevators.
* 7. Replaces defective light bulbs.
* 8. Performs thorough cleaning of ceilings, walls and vents as required.
* 9. Performs minor repairs on janitorial equipment, as specified.
*10. Assists in lifting and relocating office furniture and equipment.
*11. Removes snow from walks, driveways and parking areas.
*12. Cleans and sanitizes areas using established practices and procedures.
*13. Operates light equipment, including skid steers, related to the upkeep and maintenance of buildings and grounds.
*14. Cleans and maintains equipment; stocks supplies in janitor closets in orderly condition.
*15. Ensures outside and inside doors are locked and advises supervisor or authorities of suspicious situations.
*16. Assists maintenance workers and maintenance helpers as assigned.
*17. Demonstrates punctual and reliable attendance in accordance with designated work schedule.
*18. Complies with applicable safety rules, laws, and practice; uses proper safety equipment and procedures in all operations.
19. Performs related duties as required.
This position is part of the Civil Service Basic Unit Employees Collective Bargaining Agreement represented by Council 5 of AFSCME.

Available shifts:
- 2:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. at the Duluth Government Services Center on an assigned floor.
- 4:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. at the Duluth Government Services Center on an assigned floor.
- 4:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. at the Duluth Courthouse on an assigned floor.
The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2025. The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $20.46 - $27.64 per hour.
Employees working a regular shift commencing between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. shall, in addition to their hourly pay, receive a shift differential equal
to $.50 per hour.
Employees working a regular shift commencing between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. shall, in addition to their hourly pay, receive a shift differential equal to $.60 per hour.
Employees working a regular shift commencing between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. shall, in addition to their hourly pay, receive a shift differential equal
to $.50 per hour.
Employees working a regular shift commencing between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. shall, in addition to their hourly pay, receive a shift differential equal to $.60 per hour.
St. Louis County Janitors work collaboratively as a team and independently to provide routine janitorial maintenance work at an assigned County facility.
