What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forensic Toxicologist position at St. Louis County, MO?
This position works within the Office of the Medical Examiner and is responsible for performing toxicological analyses on body specimens for the purpose of establishing cause of death. This position will focus on biosurveillance of drugs in material submitted to the toxicology laboratory.
The typical starting salary is between $55,536 - $66,560 annually depending on the candidate's qualifications as well as budgetary considerations. Examples of Duties
Analyze body specimens for natural or toxic substances; maintain records.
Develop new methods and analytical procedures for analyzing biological specimens.
Review and interpret test results to ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
Perform supply inventory and purchase items as required.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in life science (chemistry, biochemistry, or biology preferred) or forensic science and one year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Employees hired for full time employment will participate in the St. Louis County retirement plan where they contribute 4% of their salary to the defined benefit plan with vesting after 7 years.
