What are the responsibilities and job description for the Revenue / Assessment Clerk position at St. Louis County, MO?
The seasonal Revenue/Assessment Clerk will be working in the Department of Revenue assisting during peak business months in Assessment and Collections. While there are no guaranteed hours, this position is estimated to work 40 hours per week and the starting salary will be $15.00 hourly.

Essential Function Examples
Perform specialized office or clerical duties to support Revenue or Assessment processes.
Process mail by hand and by Automated Remittance Processor and receive and verify payments.
Data enter information into various systems recording permanent information.
Review data for accuracy and conformance with classification requirements, and identify discrepancies from existing information.
Contract taxpayers by phone to clarify information and schedule appeal hearing appointments.
Prepare correspondence to explain revisions to taxpayer's accounts.
File records.

Minimum Qualifications
Equivalent to High School Diploma / GED
Additional Information
The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above. The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire.
The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.
All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be covered by the County.
Seasonal employees are paid only for the hours actually worked. There are no additional benefits.
