POSITION OVERVIEW
Under limited direction, performs a full range of professional and technical duties insupport of the economic growth in the City by providing sound development and financial strategies for priority projects. Promotes and facilitates projects in strategic areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Plans, coordinates, and participates in the development of priority projects.
- Prepares pro forma financial statements for priority real estate projects. This includes Sources & Uses Statements, Operating Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements.
- Prepares feasibility analysis and budgets.
- Identifies and assists with seeking potential grant and other funding sources.
- Assists with or manages grant programs associated with assigned projects.
- Assists with or manages procurement of services related to assigned projects.
- Provides written reports and presentations to the various SLDC development boards as required, SLDC leadership, the City Aldermanic Board and committees, various commissions, authorities, community groups, and other stake holders as required.
- Establishes and maintains close cooperation with appropriate public and private business and community organizations, departments, boards, agencies, and individuals involved in economic and related development activities.
- Assists with or prepares and manages Requests for Proposals for specific development sites.
- Assists with marketing of development sites.
- May represent the agency with respect to tenant negotiations.
- Coordinates with drafting and managing redevelopment plans.
- Perform site and building research for businesses and investors looking for properties in the City as needed.

Qualifications include a minimum of a B.A./B.S. in planning, urban design, economics, accounting, business, finance or related field. Masters preferred.
5 years in real estate development, planning, urban development, economic development, or related fields. Real estate finance and/or development experience preferred. Personal computer skills in Microsoft office products a must. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and ability to prepare and analyze financial statements for identified priority projects. Good oral, presentation, and written communication skills. Ability to work with the public and public officials.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- B.A./B.S. in planning, urban design, economics, accounting, business, finance or related field. Masters preferred.
- 5 years in planning, urban development, economic development, real estate development or related field.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Exposure to elements during site visits.
- Requires the ability to lift and carry files/papers of up to twenty pounds.
- Requires the ability to stoop, crouch, balance, bend, and climb during site visits.
- Requires the ability to distinguish objects clearly in near vision for writing and computer work.
