Minimum Qualifications

  • Missouri Occupational Therapist certification or eligibility for certification.

  • Advanced degree in occupational therapy or a closely related field.


Nice-to-Haves- Skills and qualities that are a plus but not necessarily a requirement

  • Employment experience in K-8th grade setting
  • Near native fluency in spoken and written English. Near native fluency in spoken and written French, Mandarin or Spanish
  • Understanding of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support

Responsibilities

  • Focus on occupations for the student such as academics, play and leisure, self-care skills, and transition/work skill
  • Address target areas such as fine motor skills, bilateral coordination skills, visual perceptual/visual motor integration skills, self-regulation/coping skills, social skills, and executive functioning skills
  • Provide support to classroom teachers for recommended strategies and classroom modifications to promote success during daily classroom tasks
  • Build strong therapeutic rapport based on mutual respect while utilizing a client-centered approach to promote autonomy
  • Collect and analyze data to track IEP goal progress to drive intervention planning
  • Implements Individualized Education Plans and student goals
  • Maintains student records; prepares reports on student performance; prepares other reports as requested.
  • Consult with colleagues, supervisors, and other professionals regarding the special education and general education needs of individual students.
  • Evaluates students for physical limitations, developmental delays, sensory-motor dysfunction, perceptual-motor abilities, self-help skills, functional daily living skills and adaptive equipment needs; and develops and administers educational programs based on evaluation results.
  • Recommends or fabricates adaptive equipment for ADL (Activities of Daily Living) needs, for communication, and for individualized classroom seating. Monitors utilization of prosthetics, orthotics and adaptive appliances.

It offers fair and predictable compensation to ensure SLLIS is retaining top talent.


The annual salary for this position is competitive and rages from $44,900 - $71,185. Our salaries are well-above market rate: SLLIS salaries are higher than 97% of public schools in Missouri. Your salary would be based on the highest postsecondary degree you have obtained and the number of years of experience you have. SLLIS also offers the following:

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Not all applicants will receive an interview for the position, but all applications will be thoroughly reviewed. SLLIS has a multi-stage hiring process which includes a phone screening interview, an interview with our Talent Committee and a final interview with our administration team.
