In This Role You Will
Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. , Friday 11:00 - 3:00 p.m., Saturday 11:00 - 3:00 p.m. One Sunday 1:00 to 5:00 every six weeks. Hours are subject to change.

Central Library is located in downtown St. Louis and is surrounded by other notable architecture and cultural destinations. Central Library, an architectural masterpiece designed by Cass Gilbert, opened to the public in 1912 after more than four years of construction. As Central Library neared 100 years of service, a remarkable group of St. Louisans worked together to restore and renew this great Library and prepare it for the digital world of the 21st century, all while preserving its historic beauty and continuing to make available its remarkable physical collections. Central is within easy walking distance of many great restaurants and sports (baseball Cardinals and hockey Blues, whose archives are housed at SLPL) and entertainment venues.

In This Role You Will
- Assist customers with library card registration and checking out and returning library materials.
- Assist in preparation, delivery, and receipt of Library materials; receive payment from customers.
- Provide technology assistance to customers with Library equipment.
- Assist with daily housekeeping operations, projects, and opening and closing of the building
- Assist with programming as needed.
- Friendly, patient, and able to build relationships at all levels.
- Able to see the big picture and promote consistency and excellence of service.
- Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to questions from customers and staff
- Flexible, positive, and willing to work with staff and colleagues to successfully overcome challenges.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work with competing tasks and priorities.
- At least six months of customer service-related experience, or an associate’s degree, or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
- Strong communication, writing, and speaking skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to learn and use technology as the Library continues to evolve
- Comfort with presenting to various audiences to execute unique and exciting events.
- Competitive salary range starts at $16.67 per hour.
