REPORTS TO: Facilities Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
Operate, maintain, and repair building heating, cooling, and ventilation (HVAC), electrical, plumbing and other mechanical systems in support of the smooth and efficient operation of Powell Hall. Provide a well-maintained property that meets users’ needs and creates a positive first impression for all. The typical schedule for this role will be Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:00pm approximately 1 evening/weekend event per week (full schedule would typically include no more than 5 days per week). The salary range is $60,000-65,000 annually.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for fulfilling the engineering functions in a professional and responsive manner at all times.
• Suggest methods or modes of operation to improve efficiency or reduce cost of operation.
• Operate, maintain & repair new and legacy systems at the renovated Powell Hall to include HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and facilities equipment, bringing in outside contractors when required.
• Troubleshoot all other facility mechanical systems, including elevators, wheelchair lift, etc. and coordinate external preventive maintenance and repair work vendors as needed.
• Maintain organized records regarding equipment purchases, maintenance, repairs, and performance; maintain organization’s OSHA-mandated Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) binder.
• With approval of the Director of Facilities, purchase equipment maintenance supplies and equipment.
Physical Demands:
• Standing, climbing, balancing, walking, sitting, stooping, crouching, kneeling.
• Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, push, and pull objects without assistance. With assistance, exert more than 50 pounds of force to occasionally lift, push, and pull objects.
• Clarity of vision at 150 feet or less with the ability to bring objects into sharp focus.
Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions:
• Good working conditions.
• Sometimes required to work in adverse conditions due to high noise levels from machinery during operation (centrifugal chiller, etc.).
