What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Varsity Swim Coach position at St. Louis University High?
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Junior Varsity Swim Coach to join our team for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the sport of swimming and possess effective strategies for communicating and conveying that knowledge to less experienced student-athlete swimmers.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise Junior Varsity swim team practices.
- Create and implement ability-appropriate practice plans to enhance the skills and performance of team members.
- Prepare meet lineups and provide guidance and support to swimmers during competitions.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that promotes fun, team cohesion, and sportsmanship.
- Encourage academic responsibility and prioritize the balance between athletics and academics among team members.
Requirements:
- Thorough understanding of the sport of swimming, including stroke techniques, training methods, and competition strategies.
- Experience coaching or participating in competitive swimming at the high school level or above.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Availability to work as the head JV coach during weekday practices and attend weekend invitationals as required.
- Commitment to upholding the values and standards of St. Louis University High, while promoting a positive team culture.
Schedule:
The swim season runs from mid-August to early November. Practices are held on weekdays from 5:30-7:30pm, with JV meets occurring from 4:00-5:30pm, on select weekdays and occasional Saturday invitationals.
