Position Overview: The HVAC Technician I performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This position is responsible for preventative maintenance and ensuring indoor air quality in County facilities, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and delivering reliable system performance. The role includes responding to service requests, troubleshooting system issues, and assisting in larger installations.Key Responsibilities:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent lifting of heavy equipment (up to 75 lbs.), light carrying (30 lbs. or less). Ability to climb ladders, kneel, bend, squat, and work in confined spaces. Good balance, eye/hand coordination, and near/far vision
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND WORK HAZARDS: Frequent exposure to outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, and sunlight. Constant work with refrigerants, chemicals, and high/low voltage electricity. Risk of falls, equipment-related injuries, and other trade-specific hazards.

- Assist with the installation of new HVAC systems and equipment in compliance with manufacturer specifications and local codes.
- Support maintenance operations related to other building systems as needed.

- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum of two (2) years of HVAC-related work experience, including the use of torches, meters, and trade tools.
- Knowledge of standard HVAC methods, materials, tools, and codes.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions in the HVAC trade.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Basic computer skills, including email and data entry.
- Ability to independently diagnose, maintain, and repair HVAC systems.
- Capability to work in diverse environments, including rooftops, attics, and confined spaces
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients and team members.
- Valid Florida driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Must possess Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification Type I and II. Ability to acquire a County competency card as a journeyman HVAC mechanic.
