Position Overview: This position plays a key role in supporting public sector projects by providing essential survey data collection, analysis, and documentation. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently. See well enough to operate vehicles and survey equipment, read instructions and follow directions; hear well enough to distinguish mechanical noises, to converse on the radio, telephone and in person; physical mobility to walk, bend, stand, crouch or climb for extended periods of time; ability to operate survey equipment; use hands and fingers for writing, typing, drafting, manipulating precision tools and equipment and other computer related functions; able to lift equipment as necessary; able to tolerate extreme fluctuations in temperature while performing essential functions and be able to lift equipment as necessary.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND WORK HAZARDS: Duties may require work in both climate-controlled indoor environments and outdoor locations exposed to varying weather conditions. Fieldwork may involve standing for long periods, walking considerable distances over harsh terrain.

- Conduct land surveys and gather field data using various survey equipment, including Total Stations, GPS devices, levels, and lasers.
- Perform site measurements for boundary, topographic, construction, and right-of-way surveys for public sector projects.
- Ensure accurate and precise data collection while adhering to safety protocols and standards.
- Assist senior surveyors and project managers in planning and executing survey projects.
- Collaborate with engineering and planning teams to ensure survey data aligns with project requirements.
- Provide logistical support in organizing field surveys, including equipment setup and transportation.
- Process survey data and input results into specialized software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS, SurveyPro) to create maps, plans, and detailed reports.
- Perform data verification and error checks to ensure the quality and integrity of survey results.
- Interpret field data and prepare supporting documents, such as elevation charts, cross-sections, and contour maps.
- Prepare and finalize survey-related reports, sketches, and legal documents (e.g., boundary surveys, easement maps, and survey plats).
- Draft project documentation, including survey notes, data sheets, and legal descriptions, for submission to clients or government agencies.
- Ensure all survey documentation is accurate, clear, and compliant with local regulations.
- Perform on-site inspections to verify survey accuracy and ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Identify discrepancies or errors in data and collaborate with the team to resolve issues.
- Ensure fieldwork is conducted according to safety standards, local regulations, and best practices.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot surveying instruments and tools, ensuring they are in proper working order.

- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in surveying, preferably in a public sector or government setting. Experience with both field and office survey work are highly desirable.
- Proficiency with survey equipment (Total Stations, GPS, levels, and lasers).
- Familiarity with survey software (AutoCAD, GIS, SurveyPro, or similar).
- Basic understanding of mapping and drafting techniques.
- Knowledge of surveying principles, geodesy, and public sector regulations.
- Survey Technician certification (e.g., from NSPS or similar organization) is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
