What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Director position at St. Luke First Cumberland Presyterian Church?
General Purpose of Position:To help in the Christian growth of youth by developing and implementing educational opportunities, helping with spiritual growth, and providing outreach to youth. The position will require leadership and guidance of the Youth Ministry in coordination with any associated committees and senior pastor.
Organizational Relationship and Supervision:The Director of Youth Ministries reports to the session (via the designated Youth Elder) and Senior Pastor for spiritual and ministry guidance. The Youth Director teaches in accordance with the Cumberland Presbyterian polity and doctrine, informed by the 1984 Confession of Faith. Will need to check in regularly with session liaison and pastor.
The Primary Task:-love youth where they are in life-challenge groups to respond to God’s call to serve in communities and the world -advocate for groups involvement in the larger church-outreach to youth
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe space for youth
- Hold weekly youth meetings on Sunday nights
- Develop and gather resources for lessons.
- Maintain and oversee youth budget
- Work with pastor on vision and goals for youth group
- Keep session informed about youth needs and progress
- Maintain regular communication with youth and parents
- Be an active participant in the life of St. Luke CPC
- Develop meaningful relationships with youth and families
- Be a liaison between the church and schools during youth activity attendance. (i.e. games and performances)
- Plan and coordinate youth functions outside of the church with the purpose of building on current relationships and encouraging new memberships.
- Nurture a spirit of Christian social interaction and unity among the youth group.
- Keep records of youth participation.
- Assists in recruitment of volunteers for all youth activities and distributes materials.
- Run or set up volunteers to run Sunday morning church slides once new system is installed.
Qualifications and Aptitudes:
- Must exhibit a compassionate and genuine love for youth.
- Must exhibit good character as well and be able to gracefully work through personal faults and faults of others.
- Must embrace Christian discipline and Cumberland Presbyterian doctrine and theology.

Pay: $6,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 6 per week
