JOB SUMMARY
-
The Vascular Ultrasound Technologist, under the administrative direction of the Clinic Manager and the technical direction of the Vascular Medical Director, performs diagnostic and screening ultrasound exams, including related quality controls and maintains related quality assurance records required for ultrasound services. Operates real time ultrasound equipment and communicates technical impressions to the interpreting physician. Assists with records and inventory management. Performs functions as assigned by Clinic Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
-
Education: Graduate of a two (2) year radiologic technology program OR graduate of an ultrasound technology program OR (see Licensure).

Experience: N/A

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Registered Radiologic Technologist Sonography from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR Registered Ultrasound Technologist from American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) within ninety (90) days of hire into position or, if graduate of a non-accredited program, within twenty (20) months of hire into position. Registered RVT within twelve (12) months of hire into position. Within ninety (90) days of hire into position, BLS Certification with a designation of; Healthcare Provider from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of radiation safety practices. Maintain competency in Diagnostic Ultrasound Techniques; able to function well in stressful situations; coordinating outpatient and in-patient exams for efficient completion; working knowledge of preps for ultrasound and other radiographic exams. Knowledge of customer relations principles, to exercise good judgment, accept personal responsibility and carry out assigned tasks. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious and cooperative working relationships with other people, both in person and on the telephone. Ability to effectively communicate with Physicians, patients and support staff. Ability to write legibly, see, hear, read and speak English. Computer keyboarding skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Basic Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
