Patient Reception Representative

The Patient Reception Representative provides reception to all patients and visitors into the St. Lukes Emergency Department, Urgent Care and Hospital. This position, located at the only 24 / 7 entrance into the Hospital, is responsible for politely greeting all visitors and patients and assisting them to their destination. Assists in maintaining a clean traffic flow through the lobby and reports violations or suspicious activities to Security Officer.

• MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education : High School graduate or equivalent.

• Licensure / Certification / Registration : CPR certification within six (6) months of hire.
• PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education : N / A

• Experience : Two (2) or more years customer service experience. Previous patient escort or health care experience.
• Licensure / Certification / Registration : MOAB certification.

Ability to communicate effectively, to work independently and to establish good customer relations and use interpersonal skills. Ability to multi-task and do data-entry. Ability to initiate a helpful interaction with visitors entering the facility. Ability to work in changing environmental conditions, and recognize and respond to potential problems or conflicts. Ability to handle periods of varying workload; low work activity (e.g. very limited visitor activity) and at times with intense visitor demands. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, and exercise sound judgment and common sense.

• READING - Basic : Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• WRITING - Basic : Ability to write simple correspondence.
• SPEAKING - Basic : Ability to speak simple sentences.
• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Basic Skills : Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
