Job Summary
The Director of Youth and Family Ministries is responsible for leading and overseeing the development, implementation, and administration of programs and activities that nurture the spiritual growth and well-being of children, youth, and families within the St Luke’s Lutheran Church congregation. This position requires a dynamic and compassionate leader who is committed to fostering a vibrant faith community and supporting the holistic development of young people and their families.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, development and execution of activities for 6th-12th graders, including Confirmation, Synergy (for high schoolers), year-round social events and service opportunities, Mission trips, National Youth Gathering, Confirmation camp and Youth Quake.
- Organize Sunday school (for ages 3-high school) and Vacation Bible School with the assistance of the Parish Education Committee as well as social and family events.
- Develop and lead children’s and youth participation in worship (Praise packs, Advent Wreath Lighting, etc.), and lead Children’s Messages, connecting with the theme of the day.
- Ensure that all programs align with the church’s mission, values, and theological principles.
- Evaluate and continuously improve the effectiveness of youth and family programs.
Qualifications
- A passion for working with children, youth, and families and helping them grow in their faith.
- Experience in youth ministry, Christian education, or a similar role a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Theology, Religious Studies, Education, or a related field a plus.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively with church staff, volunteers, and the congregation.
- Commitment to the church’s mission and values.
Job Specifications
Due to the unique nature of this position, flexibility is needed to accommodate the needs of youth and family activities and may include some evenings and weekends outside of the typical job hours (Mon-Thursday, Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.) This is a salaried position based on a 35-hour work week.

Pay: $37,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
