The Business Intelligence Analyst assists network leadership in making data-driven decisions by ensuring accurate, consistent, high-quality data in the enterprise data warehouse (EDW).
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the administration, development, operation, and maintenance of the network-wide Analytics systems to maximize the value of SLUHN data assets across the network. These systems include but are not limited to enterprise data warehouse (EDW), Power BI and other BI tools, ESRI ArcGIS and related tools, and legacy systems
- Serve as a technical point of contact for the above systems. Maintain security, perform system maintenance as assigned, assist with upgrades and fixes as assigned, ensure data integrity via routine and ad hoc data audits, and continually evaluate and make recommendations for process changes to maximize the value of the systems and SLUHN data assets
- Provide quality customer service by delivering accurate, timely, and valuable information using the appropriate tool(s) and dataset(s) to customers across the network and external partners of SLUHN. Develop/maintain BI tools and perform ad hoc report-writing and quantitative analysis for customers across the network in a timely and accurate manner. Demonstrate understanding of good data analysis techniques and visual display of information. Effectively prioritize ad hoc, routine, and project tasks as appropriate under guidance of Manager, Analytics and BI
- Conduct training for end users of the EDW and other tools as assigned. Mentor and provide ongoing support to new system users
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation and audit trails, under guidance of Manager in accordance with Network and department policies
- Serve as a point of contact for customer communication, including intranet page maintenance, announcements, etc., under guidance of Manager Analytics & BI
- Serve as a network resource on project teams as required
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills at all times, including verbal, written, and data visualization skills. Interact with staff and management of all levels across the network in an effective professional manner
- Effectively partner with internal and external stakeholders as appropriate, including but not limited to departments across the network, vendors, external partners of SLUHN, etc
- Maintain up-to-date technical skills and working knowledge of SLUHN business processes, data sources, and data management/analysis tools
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting for up to 7 hours per day, 4 hours at a time; standing for up to 7 hours per day, 4 hours at a time; walking for up to 1 hours a day, 15 minutes at a time. Requires hand and finger dexterity to use computer equipment. Seeing as it relates to general, near, color and peripheral vision. Hearing as it relates to normal and telephone conversations.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree required.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
1-3 years’ experience in a relevant report writing, data analysis, and/or data management role, or equivalent educational experience including but not limited to classwork, internships, co-ops, etc. Knowledge of MS Office including Excel and Access, Power BI, SQL, and/or other relevant tools preferred. Demonstrated data management or advanced quantitative skills a plus. Healthcare experience preferred. On-the-job training provided.
