Requirements for the RN Educator:
- Associates degree in the field of Nursing or equivalent,
- Current and valid NYS RN license
- Active NYS driving license.
- At least 5 years of related experience, specifically in pediatrics or skilled nursing
Responsibilities for the RN Educator:
- Insures facility regulatory compliance through the IC process.
- Identifies trends and areas needing focus.
- Provides education programs to address identified Infection Control issues.
- Initiates audit tools as the need is identified through the QA and Survey process.
- Develops/maintains policies related to the Infection Control process in the facility.
- Communicates Infection Control activities to staff.
- Is responsible for staff development programs, including curriculum development and in-service training for new and current staff.
- Develops special events and presentations aimed at community education, representing the facility as the expert on skilled long term and respite care.
- Develops an annual in-service calendar for the Nursing Department.
- Conducts facility-wide mandatory in-services on an annual basis.
- Provides in servicing for CNAs to meet the 6 hour/6month requirement. Tracks compliance.
- Conducts mandatory orientation for all new facility employees.
- Coordinates and evaluates the Nursing Department new employee orientation program. Ensures orientation checklists are completed.
- Identifies educational needs of the Nursing Department, i.e., new equipment, programs etc. Plans and coordinates in services.
- Completes plan of correction in-service programs including lesson plans.
- Maintains complete in-service records for all facility employees.
- Is a member of the Center-wide Orientation Committee. Participates in initiatives of the Center in the orientation process.
- Participates in the on-call rotation for nursing managers.
