St. Mark’s United Methodist Child Development Center Director
The Director is expected to provide oversight of all aspects of the facility, program, and staff. Working with the Church leadership and the Early Childhood Committee members, the Director sets the Center’s tone and culture and guides the development, implementation, and evaluation of components that maintain and strengthen that stated vision and its accompanying objectives. The Director should always speak and behave professionally with staff, children, parents, visitors, service people, etc. Be prepared to flexibly adapt to the diverse situations that arise in early childhood education.
Areas of Management include, but are not limited to:
Child Care and Education:
- Program and curriculum development and delivery that reflect/exceed industry standards
Facility:
- Ensure federal, state, and local compliance with all regulatory and licensing entities.
- Provide oversight and guidance for the purchase of all necessary materials and equipment
Staff:
- Assist in the development of appropriate job descriptions and requirements for all positions
- Interview and hire for any open positions
- Assist in the development, maintenance, and evaluation all staff development and training on an annual basis
- Encourage team process that daily enhances the culture of child-centric care and educational programming
- Address any grievance/disciplinary issues that arise.
Finance:
- Develop and present an annual budget to Church leadership, working with appropriate persons to amend as needed
- Provide oversight and input re: budget management, accounts receivable and payable.
Communications:
- Serve as the “face” of the Center across the community
- Develop, update, and implement Center policies, including Family Handbook
- Participate in consumer outreach and community education re: the Center’s program and philosophy
- Assist in the development and implementation of high levels of family communications and working relationships.
Job requirements include, but are not limited to:
· Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (B-K certification preferred)
·
· A Level III North Carolina Early Childhood Administration Credential
· A combination of infant, toddler or preschool
· Knowledgeable in NAEYC accreditation and North Carolina licensing standards
· Strong leadership, supervisory and customer service skills
· Demonstrated ability to create/maintain partnerships with families and staff
· Ability to lead staff in implementing and remaining accountable to a developmentally appropriate curriculum and clearly stated center culture
· Ability to ensure all applicable licensing compliance (federal, state, county) and serve as the primary point of contact for the Center.
· Strong organizational and communication skills
· Capacity to understand and manage center financial duties, including creating annual budget, forecasting business components, and maintaining accountability for working within the approved budget
· Marketing experience as related to potential consumer base
· Computer literacy
· Experience working in an inclusive work environment and managing across differences.
The salary range for this position is $52,000.00 to $62,000.00 a year. St. Mark’s CDC offers comprehensive benefits, which include medical insurance and paid time off.
