Job Summary And Qualifications
As a Cytotechnologist at our facility you will be an integral part of our Laboratory team. We are a highly functioning team that supports many different departments and has a passion for providing the best patient care through compassionate, professional interactions and reliable testing. In this role:
St. Mark's has expanded emergency access to the communities we serve with two free standing emergency centers, Taylorsville Emergency Center and West Valley Emergency Center. Both locations have 10 plus patient rooms are staffed 24/7 by experienced board-certified emergency room physicians, nurses and support teams from St. Mark's Hospital. In addition to ER care, both facilities give comprehensive imaging services, including computerized tomography (CT scan), Xray, and ultrasound as well as a fully-equipped medical laboratory.
Nestled at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains, St. Mark's sits in a picturesque and ideal location. From our hospital doors it's a quick commute to Salt Lake's urban and cultural benefits, and a short drive to outdoor adventures and Utah's glorious national parks.

Job Summary And Qualifications
As a Cytotechnologist at our facility you will be an integral part of our Laboratory team. We are a highly functioning team that supports many different departments and has a passion for providing the best patient care through compassionate, professional interactions and reliable testing. In this role:
- You will be responsible for microscopic examinations of cells and other duties as directed by the pathologists.
- You will screen all PAP smears and other non-GYN fluids to observe minute abnormalities in color, size, shape, and other cell substances.
- You will refer any abnormal smears to a pathologist for review.
- You will ensure the high quality readings of microscopic slides. You will be responsible for recognizing results or problems that require referral to the pathologist
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Current Cytotechnologist certification indicating completion of approved schooling as prescribed by the College of American Pathologists.
- Three (3) or more years of previous experience in practical cytology services preferred.
- Thin Prep experience preferred.
- Good verbal and writing skills required.
- Good computer knowledge and keyboarding skills required.
- This position requires the successful completion of a colorblind test
- Associate Degree required Bachelor's preferred
