What are the responsibilities and job description for the Play-Based Learning Teacher position at St. Mark's Nursery School and Kindergarten?
St. Mark’s Nursery School and Kindergarten is a half day, NAEYC accredited, play based program serving families of infants through kindergarten. As we look forward to expanding our class offerings during the 2025/26 school year, we are searching for three new teachers to join our amazing team of professional early educators. Positions range from 2-5 days per week, with 5 day availability preferred.
Teachers work nine months out of the year beginning in mid-August and ending mid-May with contracts renewed annually. We follow the local public school calendar (MCCSC); teachers are paid for all closings and holidays during the school year. Our nursery school day is 9:00am-12pm with kindergarten meeting from 9-12:30. A teacher's work day begins at 8:30 and ends at 12:30 as teachers are paid for one extra hour per day for planning/set up and clean up.
We are looking for dynamic, energetic, early childhood educators who value relationship building and community. A deep understanding of child development and supporting social emotional learning, play-based and child-led education are musts. We spend a lot of time outside so a passion for the outdoors is a definite plus. A preference will be give for candidates with a degree in Early Childhood Development or a related field. However, we value life experience, and there are many opportunities for on-job training and professional development throughout the year.
