Job Summary: The Childcare Director provides leadership and strategic direction for the KidZone Childcare Center, overseeing daily operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and upholding educational standards and policies. This role involves collaboration with the St. Mark’s KidZone Governing Board to align operations with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of and ensure adherence to all state rules and regulations governing childcare centers.
  • Manage daily operations, including staff supervision, facility maintenance, overseeing budget administration, and scheduling.
  • Provide regular reports to the Board on center performance, budget status, and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee curriculum development and lesson planning to meet established educational standards.
  • Manage the full employee life cycle, including recruitment, selection, onboarding, professional development, performance evaluations, and staff relations, as well as review and implement H.R. policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date records and certifications for both children and staff.
  • Maintain basic understanding of current knowledge of and adhere to all applicable employment laws and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with the bookkeeper on budget management including tuition collection, payroll processing, and resource allocation.
  • Foster effective, efficient, proactive, and collaborative communication with parents and staff.
  • Maintain appropriate child-to-staff ratios.
  • Remain informed about current educational evidence based and implement innovative practices.
  • Complete required ongoing professional development hours to maintain state licensing and KIDZONE policy compliance.
  • Oversee assistant director, program coordinator, and teachers/staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Meet the director requirements as stipulated by state licensing departments.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds as needed for child safety, program activities, and emergency situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of leadership experience in childcare or education.
  • Experience in HR management and/or previous employee supervision experience.
  • Knowledge of state regulations and educational standards for childcare centers.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position requiring 40-50 hours per week, with standard office hours and occasional extended hours. The position demands patience, compassion, and professionalism.

Salary & Benefits:

  • $47,000-50,000 (Dependent on previous experience and qualifications; opportunities for increased benefits will be based on job performance review performed by the KidZone hiring board, employee feedback and based on the director’s initiative to grow the profession to benefit the community)
