OVERVIEW:
Directs and Manages activities of paid and volunteer recreation/activity service personnel in Department and/or facility to ensure support of Resident meaningful engagement, enjoyment of leisure pursuits and promote psycho- social well-being. Blood and body fluids exposure: Category II.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Keeps confidential all information not specifically authorized to be given to others.
- Develops and promotes recreation program, including music, arts and crafts, cultural arts, reality orientation, nature study, social recreation, and games.
- Coordinates food, transportation, and entertainment for all Care Center activities.
- Documents Resident Care Planning and interacts with other departments in assessing and evaluating Residents; recreational needs.
- Keeps MDS charting up to date.
- Introduces new program activities, equipment, and materials to staff.
- Interprets recreation service to public and participates in community meetings and organizational planning.
- Works as a team with administrative or other professional personnel such as those engaged in medicine, social work, nursing, psychology, and therapy to ensure that recreation is well balanced, coordinated, and integrated with special services.
- Processes timecard adjustments and PTO request for the Life Enrichment Staff.
- Ensures that invoices are processed in a timely matter.
- Maintains a schedule of Residents; activities and keeps bulletin boards relating to activities current.
- Participate in the Admissions Back Up Team.
- Observes and follows all safety policies and procedures.
- Observes and follows infection control policies and procedures.
- Participates in the RAI process for Residents which includes care plan conferences and completing MDS sections pertaining to discipline.
- Manages department within budgetary expectations/goals.
- Attends all mandatory in services as required.
- Demonstrates positive guest relations to internal and external customers.
- This position will get involved as requested with residents, or potential residents, who may be transitioning soon, or may in the future need to transition to other levels of care due to complications or diagnosis of dementia or Alzheimer’s.
- This position may also be asked to help do presentations or trainings of groups or individuals as needed in the areas of helping residents with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
- Team Members are required to report to their Department Director all incidents of actual or possible abuse of a Resident that they become aware of. Abuse in this respect includes, but is not limited to, verbal, sexual, physical, and/or mental abuse, corporal punishment, involuntary seclusion, neglect, and/or any misappropriation of property concerning St. Mark Village Residents. Team Members will make the report as soon as possible after they become aware of the incident of actual or possible abuse.
- May be assigned other related duties and responsibilities as required by Care Center Administrator.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Facility’s policies and applicable laws. All assistants will report to Activities Manager Care Centers.
QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED SKILL, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILL:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of Residents or Team Members of facility.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
ADC Certification, pending certification can be applicable if approved prior to hire.
