What are the responsibilities and job description for the Waiter/Server position at St. Mark Village?
SERVER OVERVIEW:
Serve food in a quiet, courteous, professional, and efficient manner to Residents under the direction of the Dining Room Coordinator or the IL Dining Room Manager. Responsible for the preparation of the various condiments used for the days meal, and the proper storage thereof. Responsible for the cleaning of all areas used: Dining Room, Kitchen and food preparation area. Cleans and resets Dining Room after each use. Sets up and break down of special events.
- Sets tables in Dining Room for Resident’s meals and stocks tables with sugar, crackers, sweeteners, and refills salt and pepper shakers.
- Serves food in a quiet, professional, courteous, and efficient manner; following the individual menus of the Residents.
- Cleans the areas in the Dining Room he/she has been assigned to. Wipes off base of tables, chair seats, sweeps carpet surrounding table area, and resets chairs properly. Resets tables and restocks station completely before leaving.
- Cleans areas of kitchen as designated on assignment sheets; ice machine, juice and milk dispensers, bread warmer, coffee machines, coffee pots, and all counter areas. Refills all condiment containers.
- Cleans and wipes thoroughly small and large trays used in carrying food from kitchen, also tray stands in Dining Room.
- Maintains strict sanitary and hygienic habits in regard to personal appearance.
- Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed.
- Ladles soup, tosses salads, portions pies and desserts, brews coffee, and performs other services as determined by establishment’s size and practices.
- Clears and resets counters and tables at conclusion of each course.
- Assembles and delivers Room Service requests.
- Sets up special events.
- Demonstrates positive guest relations to internal and external customers.
REQUIRED SKILL, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
No prior experience or training. High school education preferred, but not necessary. Must be willing to learn on the job.
