What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp - Counselors in Training (CIT) position at St. Martin's Episcopal School?
St. Martin’s Episcopal School is recruiting Counselors in Training (CIT) ages 14-15 to work for our 2025 St. Martin’s Episcopal School Summer Camp. All St. Martin's Episcopal School CITs must be available for no less than two weeks from June 2, 2025 - July 25, 2025. There will be MANDATORY staff training on May 31st from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Meals are provided to camp counselors at no extra cost.
This is a non-paid position. Counselors in Training may receive service hours. Counselors in Training will learn skills they will utilize in future summers as a full-time counselor. At all times, a CIT should present themselves as a positive role model and be enthusiastic. CITs are expected to maintain open lines of communication with their direct camp division leader and to work cooperatively with other counselors, as well as other counselors in training. Working with campers could be one of the most rewarding jobs you could ever have.
You will report to your St. Martin’s Episcopal School Summer Camp division lead and learn valuable skills while tending to campers that range from 4 to 11 years old. You will have daily interactions with other counselors, campers, parents/caregivers of campers, and all St. Martin's Episcopal School staff that work on campus during the summer. Regular Camp is Monday through Friday.
Job Description
Responsible for working with their Division Leader, Counselors, Junior counselors, and/or Counselors in Training to ensure campers are supervised at all times
Must actively and enthusiastically participate in all activities, and engage in providing assistance and support in activities such as swimming, arts & crafts, sports instruction, fitness, and outdoors (you will always have instruction as you are in training this summer)
Assist their Division Leader by being prepared with a variety of activities for rainy days, last-minute schedule adjustments, and downtimes
Assist with setting up water coolers in the morning
Assist with setting up/clean up at lunchtime
Help with providing daily care of each camper with direction from your group leader
Attendance is mandatory at all camp staff meetings and training events
Qualifications
Must be at least 14 years of age
Must be CPR/AED & First Aid Certified (we provide CPR training sessions before the start of camp)
