2025-2026 school year. The teacher in this role would interact with all grades, PK through 5,
and be responsible for introducing our youngest students to the world of visual arts, and helping
them explore their creativity and develop foundational skills.
The person in this role is committed to providing a student-centered environment that
encourages creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Candidates must be committed to
an all-girls and Mercy education.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans for an experiential and project-based art curriculum for students,
- Create and lead opportunities to present and promote art within the lower school;
- Work with Lower School faculty to champion project-based learning experiences, including interdisciplinary design challenges and digital storytelling,
- Conduct weekly lessons for grades PK-5 that demonstrate a passion for and extensive knowledge of children’s literature, publishing trends, and authors; promote literacy and reading for fun through special programs such as National Library Week, summer reading lists,
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure that curricula include the full range of digital literacy skills (information, media, visual, digital and technological literacy) necessary to meet content standards and to develop lifelong learners.
- Guide students to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers and ethical users of information,
- Support teachers to integrate technology into lessons and projects,
- Participate in ongoing professional development on emerging technologies, curriculum design, and pedagogies relevant to instructional technology.
- High energy level, creative and forward-thinking,

- Approaches work with energy, kindness, curiosity, flexibility, and a sense of humor,
- Supports Mercy values and the Mercy Critical Concerns,

- Strong work ethic and a caring temperament
- BA/BS in related area,
- 3 years experience working in a school setting
