PreK Job Description

POSITION TITLE: PreK Aide

Department: Catholic Schools

Supervisor: Principal

Job Summary:

The PreK Aide will work in a Catholic School PreK program to provide support to the Lead Teacher and ensure a safe and enriching environment for young children. The PreK Aide will assist with various tasks including supervision, planning activities, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom.

Essential Job Functions

• upholds the doctrinal teachings of the Catholic Church
• Exemplifies Catholic living both in and out of the classroom

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing daily activities that are age-appropriate and aligned with the school's Catholic values and teachings
• Assist in creating a safe, nurturing, and positive classroom environment for young children
• Supervise children during activities, outdoor play, and transitions to ensure their safety and well-being
• Help maintain a clean and organized classroom by setting up and cleaning up materials and equipment as needed
• Assist with classroom management and behavior guidance, using positive reinforcement and redirection techniques as appropriate
• Communicate effectively with parents and families, providing updates on children's progress and responding to questions or concerns in a timely manner
• Attend school and department meetings as required
• Participate in professional development activities to stay up-to-date with best practices in early childhood education and Catholic education.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous experience working with young children in a PreK or daycare setting preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and administrators
• Knowledge of Catholic values and teachings and a willingness to integrate these values into daily activities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and engage in physical activities with children.

Working Conditions:

• The PreK Aide position is a full-time, non-exempt position with regular work hours Monday-Friday during the school year.
• The position involves working with young children in a classroom setting, which can be physically demanding.
• The PreK Aide will work under the direction of the Lead Teacher and in collaboration with other members of the school staff.
