Job Summary
St. Mary of the Assumption School is seeking a dedicated and passionate teacher assistant for our Grade 1 class to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for students, fostering their intellectual and social development. This role requires a strong commitment to educating young minds, with an emphasis on early childhood education principles and effective classroom management techniques.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Support
- Assist the teacher in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities.
Student Supervision
- Monitor students during classroom activities, recess, and transitions.
- Ensure student safety and adherence to classroom rules and school policies.
- Assist students with daily routines, such as unpacking, organizing materials, and managing personal needs.
Administrative Tasks
- Prepare and organize classroom materials, supplies, and bulletin boards.
- Maintain records of attendance, assignments, and student progress.
- Assist in grading basic assignments and assessments as directed by the teacher.
Social and Emotional Support
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
- Support students in developing positive social skills and conflict resolution.
- Address student needs with patience and understanding, providing encouragement as needed.
Collaboration
- Work closely with the classroom teacher to align with educational goals and strategies.
- Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and students.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events as required.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students needing additional help.
- Reinforce learning concepts introduced by the teacher through practice and review.
- Support the use of technology and educational tools in the classroom.
