In the faithful pursuit of this mission, the Archdiocese is seeking a Maintenance / Housekeeping Supervisor for our Parish.The incumbent maintains open lines of communication and harmonious working relationships with fellow staff members, parish volunteers, Archdiocesan staff and others that foster unity with a clear focus on our Catholic identity and mission.
Judgment Exercised/Decisions Made: The incumbent takes initiative and makes decisions based on the mission and vision of the parish and direction from the Director of Facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the physical condition of all Parish Buildings and grounds to ensure they are safe, clean, and in good operating condition.
- Develop a thorough working knowledge of the physical condition of the Parish and School Buildings and Grounds.
- Provide support, supervision and direction to the Maintenance / Housekeeping Staff.
- Organize staff work schedules, vacations, etc. to assure adequate staff coverage to meet the needs of the Church, Parish Center, School, Rectory, and grounds.
- Develop operating procedures for the staff.
- Organize, and supervise the daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal, and special needs tasks that are necessary to maintain the Church, School, Parish Center, Rectory, and grounds and assure that the work is scheduled, assigned, and completed in a timely and satisfactory manner.
- Supervise the organization and completion of all work order requests and scheduled preventative maintenance.
- Purchase necessary Maintenance Department supplies & equipment, with approval, following Business Office and Archdiocesan procedures.
- Develop and manage the inventory control system.
- Assist in the development of the maintenance department operating budget for the physical plant and grounds.
- Supervise all work done by the Maintenance Department ensuring all OSHA requirements, as they relate to necessary PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and safety are being followed.
- Supervise all required Maintenance and Housekeeping employee safety training.
- Supervise the work of all contractors and vendors for all contracted services or repairs.
- Monitor the school’s life safety equipment.
- Work closely with the Director of Facilities and all parish staff to assure all buildings and the grounds are safe and in good operating condition.
- Performs all “other duties as necessary” that are requested.
- Be flexible to change work schedule, as necessary, to meet needs of the Parish for coverage for special services and events.
- Be available to handle emergencies 24/7 as necessary.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- The desire to be a team player and work collaboratively with others.
- Have prior experience in building maintenance & housekeeping services or property management with a proven ability to perform the necessary tasks
- Have strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Have general computer skills.
- Have some general knowledge of HVAC boilers and other mechanical equipment.
- Have some experience with minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
- Have some knowledge of federal, and state laws that pertain to facilities administration.
- Have the ability to communicate well in English and Spanish
- Have some experience in landscape management.
- Have some experience with IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) issues.
- Have some general knowledge of sustainability / green issues.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or G.E.D. Some college preferred
- At least one year of custodial/maintenance experience.
- Experience and/or willingness to learn in these areas: cleaning/ maintenance, snow removal, grass cutting, carpet cleaning, floor care
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $42,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
