What are the responsibilities and job description for the Neighbor Associate - Chinle, AZ position at St. Mary's Food Bank?
The Neighbor Associate position reports to the Mobile Distribution Manager and provides coordination of all client service operations at the Neighborhood Food Center in Chinle, AZ. The position requires flexibility, excellent verbal and written communication skills, project coordination experience, and the ability to prioritize and work well with all levels of management, staff, and our clientele.
Essential Functions
Assist in the daily operations of the Neighborhood Food Centers outside food distribution, lobby, and warehouse to ensure a smooth and efficient flow.
Provide excellent customer service and assist with problem solving when dealing with internal and external customers.
- Oversee the production process and volunteers, ensuring that assigned tasks are completed correctly and that a meaningful work experience is had by volunteers.
- Maintain first-hand knowledge of the TEFAP and CSFP product and distribution.
- Responsible for the client services intake area and the distribution pick-up area to ensure proper screening and service to neighbors.
- Work with the Mobile Distribution Team and Manager to report accurate information that include the following: site participation counts and ending inventory.
- Work with the Mobile Distribution Team to prepare daily summaries of all programs and client services activities.
- Perform daily inventory and par level counts on distributed and received product
- Assist with on-boarding training of staff/volunteers in reference to direct client services, client database, and other aspects associated with operating a direct client distribution facility.
- Ensure quality assurance of food being distributed to clients.
- Work outside daily for 5 to 6 hours standing on feet, inputting client data.
- Clean distribution area as well as restocking the food service area.
- Assist in the safety and security of the distribution floor and parking lot.
- Any other duties assigned by Management.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all internal/external customers of St. Marys Food Bank with an excellent service experience.

Interacts with all levels of leadership, employees, agency representatives, community neighbors and clients.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; such as a GED.
- Basic math and literacy skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to follow detailed instructions for tasks required of the neighbor associate
- One to three years of work experience in a related field or role
- Strong communication (oral and written) skills
- PC skills including working knowledge of the Microsoft environment and the ability to access, manipulate, organize and relay information in a meaningful way.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous food distribution and warehouse work experience
