Responsibilities
- Administer various types of anesthesia, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC), tailored to the specific needs of cardiac surgery patients.
- Perform comprehensive pre-operative assessments of cardiac surgery patients, including review of medical history, anesthesia risks, and cardiac status evaluation.
- Monitor hemodynamic parameters, cardiac function, and intraoperative blood volume status during cardiac surgical procedures, adjusting anesthesia levels and medications as necessary to optimize patient outcomes.
- Manage anesthesia induction, maintenance, and emergence phases with precision, ensuring hemodynamic stability and effective pain control throughout the surgical procedure.
- Coordinate closely with cardiac surgeons, perfusionists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care and seamless intraoperative management of cardiac surgery patients.
Qualifications
- Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board certification in Anesthesiology from the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) or equivalent certifying body.
- Fellowship training or extensive experience in cardiac anesthesia from an accredited program.
- Valid state medical license
- Demonstrated proficiency in cardiac anesthesia techniques, intraoperative TEE interpretation, and acute care management of cardiac surgery patients.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced surgical environment.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in clinical decision-making.
- Commitment to patient-centered care, quality improvement, and adherence to evidence-based practice guidelines.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and adapt to changing clinical situations during cardiac surgical procedures.
- Willingness to participate in on-call duties
